Maryland’s transportation system is the foundation of our entire economy. Moving people, goods, and services is vital to the prosperity of a state, and Maryland’s investment in transportation infrastructure is falling behind. Our roads, bridges, and transit facilities have not kept up with our growing needs, or with our neighboring states.

Congestion in Maryland is choking our transportation system, stifling commerce and damaging our quality of life. The Greater Washington Metropolitan area often ranks in the Top-5 most congested regions in the nation, and Baltimore is now among the Top-10.

Overcrowded roads, deteriorating bridges, and outdated transit facilities not only cost us time and money; they create real safety risks for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists. This needs to change.

Maryland’s current funding sources are not enough to adequately maintain our existing transportation systems, let alone fund new projects, like Baltimore’s Red Line or a new American Legion Bridge. We need action NOW!
